Situated on a Lake Balaton peninsula, this Hungarian village is famous for its 11th century Benedictine Abbey. Tihany grew around the abbey built in 1055 by King Andrew I, who chose the destination as his burial place. The village used to known for an echo that has been documented in various poems. Other points of interest are Hermit's Place, Echo Hill, Calvinist Church and the Folk Peasant Houses.
