This 183-foot Italian marvel began tilting when it was being built back in 1178 and construction was stopped for 100 years to give the tower time to settle, which it did not. The Leaning Tower of Pisa was finally completed in 1350 with a tilt of more than five degrees and now it slants just under four degrees after more adjustments in 1990s. It is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site grouped with the nearby Pisa Cathedral, Pisa Baptistery and Monumental Cemetery. The Pisa landmark attracts more than one million visitors per year.
