Strasbourg is located in the Rhine Valley of France, near the German border, and hosts a number of important European institutions including the European Parliament. The Grande Île, or city center, is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to its exquisite and influential architectural style. Within this area are many important sites, including the Notre Dame Cathedral, L'Opera, and the Alsatian Museum. Take a stroll through the Petite France neighborhood with its interesting mix of French and German-style homes. If visiting in the winter, the Christmas markets located throughout town should not be missed.
