The Sedlec Ossuary, or Bone Church, is a chapel in Sedlec, a suburb of Kutna Hora. The Ossuary sits beneath the Church of All Saints and is decorated with the skeletons of 40,000 people. When the abbot of Sedlec monastery ventured to the Holy Land in the 13th century, he returned with a jar of soil. This made the cemetery a sought-after resting place. Due to overcrowding, older bodies were exhumed and placed in the Sedlec Ossuary. Now many of these skeletons decorate its interior, with furnishings including a chandelier made entirely of human bones.
