About Plaza de Espana (Barcelona)

The Plaza de Espana features a semi-circular brick building located in Maria Luisa Park. It was built in the Renaissance Revival style for the 1929 Ibero-American Exhibition. Towers tall enough to be seen throughout the city stand at the building’s north and south ends, and a 1640-foot-long canal fronts the building with four bridges across it. Visitors can rent small rowboats for an experience reminiscent of Venice, or explore the nearby streets by bike or carriage with delicious ice cream.
