Legendary ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau was once the director of this Monaco marine museum located on a cliff along the scenic Mediterranean Sea. Oceanographic Museum of Monaco established in 1910 by Prince Albert I features more than 6,000 sea organisms in 90-plus pools and attracts more than 670,000 visitors annually. Marine habitat aquariums are The Mediterranean Sea, Tropical Sea and Shark Lagoon and the institution has many permanent and temporary exhibits including one where daring visitors have the opportunity to pet live sharks swimming in a pool.
