About Navy Pier

More than 8.6 million people annually visit this 3,300-foot Chicago lakeside pier full of entertainment, rides, games, restaurants, stores and leisure activities. Navy Pier on the sparkling Lake Michigan opened as Municipal Pier in 1916, was renamed in 1927 to honor Navy members who served during World War I and renovated in 1995 to what it is today. Popular attractions are Pier Park with a 150-foot Ferris Wheel, Children's Museum, IMAX Theater, Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, Crystal Gardens and a USS Chicago anchor. It is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
