New England's largest island discovered in 1602 and located seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod is known to be a popular destination for presidents, artists and celebrities. This whimsical place commonly called "The Vineyard" features miles of serene beaches, five lighthouses, Gingerbread Cottages, the United States' oldest platform carousel, Mytoi Garden, Polly Hill Arboretum and colonial Edgartown containing Martha's Vineyard Museum. Approximately one-third of the scenic island is undeveloped and it's only accessible by plane or boat.
