Fed by the Cascade River in Banff National Park, Lake Minnewanka is a glacier lake. Known to the Stoney people as "Lake of the Spirits," the lake has been home to human activity for over 10,000 years. Accessible from the Trans-Canada Highway, the trails along the lake are popular among mountain bikers and hikers, as well as scuba divers looking to see Minnewanka Landing, a summer village that is now underwater as a result of the nearby dams.
