The plantation home of the first United States president allows visitors to tour George Washington's mansion containing family artifacts and 18th Century items or the Ford Orientation Center and Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center to view more than 700 relics, 25 galleries and theaters and life-size models of Washington. The attraction also has extensive gardens, Washington's Tomb, Slave Burial Ground and Memorial, Pioneer Farm Site, Distillery and Ghrist Mill, Forest Trail and Mount Vernon Wharf. George Washington lived at Mount Vernon from 1735-38 and 1741 and the property was owned by the Washington family from 1674-1858. George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Gardens is visited by approximately one million people each year.
