About Chateau de Chenonceau

Spanning across the Cher River in the Loire Valley is another brilliant example of the French Renaissance style: the Chateau de Chenonceau. Built in 1514–1522, the chateau later became the prized possession of two very influential women: Diane de Poitier and Catherine de' Medici, the latter of whom spent a considerable amount decorating the interior and hosting lavish parties. The chateau is also home to an exceptional collection of artwork by masters such as Murillo, Poussin and Rubens, as well as a rare selection of Flanders tapestries. Be sure to visit the maze and gardens on your way out.
