The international nonprofit research organization works to preserve the amazing wildlife of the Galapagos Islands, which are a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. The Charles Darwin Research Station was established in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos in 1964. Just five years earlier, the Charles Darwin Foundation of Belgium created Galapagos National Park. More than 100 scientists, educators, researchers, staff and volunteers from around the world contribute to the foundation.
