This 4,100-foot peak of the White Mountains in New Hampshire is both a skier's and rock climber's dream. Located within Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain has other summits of 3,769, 3,700, and 3,693 feet. It was called Profile Mountain until 1972 and hosted the first Alpine Skiing World Cup in 1967. The mountain features an aerial tramway, numerous trails, an 165-acre ski area with nine lifts, an observation tower, Profile Lake and the New England Ski Museum. Its "Old Man of the Mountain" formation that collapsed in 2003 was a state emblem.
