Avenida Revolucion took off during the Prohibition period, when U.S. nationals crossed the border in droves to partake in the alcohol-fueled revelry, both in the bars and at the bullring. One of the major thoroughfares of historic downtown Tijuana, Avenida Revolucion is now best known for the long line of shops selling assorted souvenirs and other wares at a fraction of what you would pay across the border. Interspersed between these are a number of bars and restaurants catering to every taste, from local to exotic fare, dive bar to discoteque.
