About Albaicin Quarter

This is the old Moorish quarter of the city of Granada. Named a World Heritage Site in 1994, the Albacin was originally established by Zirid Monarchs in the 11th century. Only some of the former Moorish city remains today, namely the western wall, city gates (including the Puerta Elvira), and some minarets that have been converted into bell towers from old mosques. Some of the best views in Granada are from the Church of San Nicolas in Albaicin, which looks out to Alhambra.
